Economy

Solar cell PV is extremely expensive! This is the most common view, but far from consi-stent with reality. If solar panels are used properly, for example as a climate screen, then the economics are actually quite good. We have examples of installations that have a ve-ry short repayment period (< 5 years), or examples of a solar panel solution that is much cheaper than other alternatives.

The new building regulation (BR08) gives solar panels a unique status where energy production can be subtracted 2.5 times in the energy frame calculations.

Repayment periods depend on many factors. The most important is electricity price deve-lopments, the possibilities of integrating solar panels into a building and thereby replacing other climate shields as well as possible requirements for low energy housing.

It is not possible to say anything general about repayment periods as it is entirely project dependant. Gaia Solar strives to provide solutions with repayment periods of less than 20 years, which is half of the life expectancy of the plant. This means that we are able to provide solar plants with a reasonable rate of return.
