Engelsborg School in Lyngby.

The City Council decided to use solar panels in connection with the construction of a new extension of the Engels-borg School in Lyngby. The building was to have solar panels on the south and west facing facades. It was there-fore natural to integrate the solar panels into this rather than the traditional metal strips. Copenhagen Energy has built a similar system at its own headquarters (also installed by Gaia Solar) and this was used as a model. This sy-stem was installed with a few changes adapted to the school and can now be regarded as a kind of standard within Danish sun shielding with built in solar panels. A mono-crystalline solar panel was chosen to provide a calm effect to the façade itself. The backing surfaces of the glass slats are silk-screened so that electricity connections etc are not noticeable.
