The Jysk Artisans School in Hadsten.

The Jysk Artisans School in Hadsten has since 1998 served as a training institute for KSC electricians (i.e. electri-cians who are trained to carry out solar installations as a part of their course). The school had a solar installation installed in the facade during a previous extension (also a Gaia Solar a project). In this project, the theme was cli-mate screening, where the solar panels comprise the outer climate screen. In the new extension, it was decided that the elevator tower would be emphasised. The tower is a landmark for the building, and due to the tower struc-ture, Gaia Solar chose to dimension, produce and install no fewer than 36 different panel types before we were satisfied with the result. Dummy panels were added to the tower’s north side, both externally and internally to pro-vide the same finish to the whole tower, which made the task very complex. The tower is now a high-tech landmark for the school. The entrances to the two latest extensions have been fitted with thermal windows with solar modu-les. They replace the other windows and reduce the need for a sun shield. This reduces the cooling needs in the summer whilst adding natural heating from the solar panels in the winter. BIPV at its best.
